AI and automated decisions

Draft for legal review. Replace the bracketed details and have an Australian lawyer check it before relying on it.

AI and automated decisions

How our voice agents use AI, for the people they talk to and the businesses that use them. [Required in privacy policies from 10 December 2026 where personal information is used in automated decisions that could significantly affect someone.]

What the agents are

Calls are handled by AI voice agents. They give their name and the business they represent, say they're an AI whenever asked, and never claim to be human. A person from the business can listen in or take over a call.

What's decided automatically

  • Whether someone is a fit for the business's product or service, based on the questions the business sets (for example budget or timing).
  • Which follow-up to offer: a meeting, a call back, a transfer to a person, or none.
  • For health insurance agents: which published policies to quote, from government data, based on the cover the person describes.

These are suggestions to the business, not final decisions about you: a person at the business can review every call, its summary and its outcome.

Kinds of information used

What you say on the call, details the business already holds about you (such as your name and enquiry), and the business's own product information.

Your options

  • Ask to speak to a person, or ask the agent to stop.
  • Ask the business to review an outcome or correct information about you.
  • Opt out of further calls or texts at any time.
